What's good DJ Moore?
Bill Belichick calls Jets' departure "one of the great moments of my career" - Nov 11
Today is remembrance day: an important day in world history to remember all the fallen soldiers and those who sacrificed so we can be here today. Lest we forget.
And we’re back. Hope the waiver claims went well (ideally you grabbed Duke Johnson & Dallas Goedert). If the claims didn’t go your way and you still have T.Y. Hilton on your bench, the end of the newsletter is for you.
Without any further ado, the newsletter is jam-packed with great articles today - enjoy!
The Fantasy Usage Model
Rotoworld’s Hayden Winks provides a fantastic article helping teams everywhere - including the top rebound candidates for Week 10 (like Jarvis Landry, Josh Jacobs). The article highlights the average expected PPR points and PPR data from the last four weeks, removing injuries and other adjustments, for every position.
Two big takeaways: D’Andre Swift is a great value and RB2 since the Lion’s bye week, and T.J. Hockenson is a no doubt top-5 TE.
What’s going on with D.J. Moore?
Fantasyalarm.com provides incredible insight into everything happening in the Panthers WR world, specifically answering the question: Why is D.J. Moore only getting 3 targets?
TLDR: Teddy Bridgewater loves to throw it short - especially over the middle of the field. The short-route role was previously held by D.J. Moore, but now Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel run the slants while D.J. Moore is sent on deep bombs. Teddy Two-Gloves refuses to bomb it.
The daily dose of stats to win your league
Pat Thorman wrote an incredible thread helping you identify which teams to start players against: Most total points per game (team + opponent); Most combined plays per game (team + opponent); Highest no-huddle rate;
Moral of the story: target WRs and TEs against the Seahawks.
Jared Smola wrote about the most rushing fantasy points allowed per attempt to RBs over the last 5 weeks.
I get that it’s too late, but better late than never. Right? The top Week 10 waiver priorities.
Just some Travis Kelce RESPECT.
Rookie QBs this season have been like… really good
These WR’s NEED a better (more accurate QB)
Accurate Target percentage among all WRs, min. 50 targets (i.e. which player is getting thrown the highest percent of catchable balls)
1. JuJu Smith-Schuster (89%)
2. Tyler Boyd (87%)
3. Cole Beasley (87%) ....
Someone help these guys:
36. Jerry Jeudy (69%) (lol nice but also not so nice)
37. Michael Gallup (68%)
38. DJ Chark (67%)
Last / 39. Darius Slayton (67%)
The NFL makes (what might be) a change to the playoff format
This would be great news for all football fans as it means MORE FOOTBALL. With the NFL seeing 56 Covid-19 cases in just the first week of November, more cancellations are a likely reality.
Next-Weeks Top Adds
Knowing who to pick-up a week before they are obvious (i.e. Duke Johnson this week) is valuable. It spares you blowing your FAAB load (lol) on a certain player by picking them up before anyone realizes the potential value (i.e. it’s too late for Jakobi Meyers) Sure, sometimes you’ll miss. But the few times you are right can win you leagues.
I hope the paragraph above makes sense.
Anyways, here are the players who, if they - play well/stay healthy/an opportunity opens/receive more volume - will be future waiver targets (ESPN ownership in brackets):
RB: DeAndre Washington (1.2%) - Washington (unlike Jordan Howard), is not sh**. In all seriousness, he’s a talented RB who may be the best healthy back on the Dolphins. With Myles Gaskin out for at least the next two weeks, Washington can be a perfect bye week fill in (if he gets the opportunities). Washington was dealt from the Chiefs to the Dolphins last Tuesday, but he wasn't eligible to play in Week 9 while on the commissioner's exempt list. He'll be allowed to practice with the team and potentially suit up for Week 10 against the Chargers.
WR: Breshad Perriman (12%) - The talented deep threat won leagues at the end of last season when he went off for the Bucs. He very well could do the same thing this year, as evidenced by his 24+ point performance against the Pats. He might go unclaimed this week because the Jets are on their bye.
TE: Irv Smith Jr. (4.4%) - Despite logging half the playing time of Kyle Rudolph, Smith hauled in a pair of touchdown passes for the Vikings in Week 9. Look - the Vikings are going to establish the run every chance they get. However, if they are losing games (and they will be), Smith is Kirk Cousins end-zone target (and Irv Smith Jr. is talented as hell).
BONUS:
Bill Belichick calls leaving the Jets “one of the great moments” of his career. The Jets GM sleeping during a close game.
Maybe Lamar Jackson hasn’t been as bad as we thought? (he leads the NFL in redzone passer rating) (the coaching staff isn’t playing to the Ravens strengths)
Thank you all - time to check the wire for the low-owned adds. Also, good luck ripping off your leagues mates before the trade deadlines!
Question of the week: There are only two players in the entire NFL with 500+ yards after contact - Can you name them?
