Ah Saturday mornings. A day to sleep in. A day without zoom calls. A day to make your DFS lineups, finalize any trades, and take the players on bye weeks out of your lineup.
We’ll get right into it, but how about reminiscing on how great Calvin Johnson (Megatron) was:
Pour one out for the fallen Gardner
While the Jaguars are yet to formally rule out Gardner Minshew, rookie backup QB Jake Luton is expected to start Week 9. The Jaguars are looking to shake things up after their bye week, especially after learning Gardner has multiple fractures and strained ligaments in his thumb.
Ronnie Stanley secured the bag $
Ravens signed LT Ronnie Stanley to a five-year, $98.75 million contract, including $70.9 million in guarantees. Well-deserved payday for the 26 year-old LT, one of the best in the league. Stanley hasn't allowed a sack in five appearances this season.
Here’s a Ronnie Stanley hype video, something you don’t see everyday.
Julian Edelman might be calling it a season
Julian Edelman, the NFL playoff legend, dated Jerry Rice’s daughter in high-school.
He also underwent knee surgery and is expected to be placed on the IR. Hard to imagine the Pats/Edelman rush the playoff legend back in what is shaping up to be a lost season. Edelman might wait until next season to join his boys Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in Tampa Bay.
Calvin Ridley update: take a deep breath
And a sigh of relief. Per Ian Rapoport, Ridley was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain and the team hopes to have him back "shortly"- which is TBD, but could be as soon as Week 9, as the Falcons have 10 days of rest before their next matchup.
Quick injury updates:
Who’s IN (back to playing)
Dalvin Cook (Head coach Mike Zimmer said Cook would not have restrictions on playing time this week)
Chris Thompson (James Robinson should lose some targets)
John Brown (should boost Josh Allen, plus Brown gets a Patriots secondary missing Stephon Gilmore)
AJ Brown (scared fantasy owners can relax. Brown missed practice Thursday but participated Friday)
Who’s OUT
Michael Thomas (ankle, hamstring, ego)
Joe Mixon (foot)
Aaron Jones (calf)
N’Keal Harry (concussion)
Alshon Jeffery (foot)
Deebo Samuel (hamstring)
Miles Sanders (knee)
Marquez Callaway (ankle)
A few to check on Sunday morning
Allen Robinson (concussion)
Jameson Crowder (groin)
Tim Patrick (hamstring)
Philip Lindsay (concussion)
BONUS:
What does Pete Carroll think of DeeJay Dallas before (what could be) a huge workload in Week 8? And:
GO pickup Bears WR Darnell Mooney where you can. Which might be nowhere. Allen Robinson is likely to miss the game and the Bears should be throwing often to catch the Saints.
Bengals are rolling out the worst offensive line ever assembled.
As always, thank you for joining the Morning Huddle. Don’t share this with anyone! Don’t do it!
Look at these Halloween masks - DAMN bruh!
