Happy Sunday! It’s the best day of the Week, the one we’ve all been waiting for. Here’s some short, quick info to help you win your fantasy matchup. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Win one week at a time.
The “plan” is for Aaron Jones to sit this Sunday
Per Green Bay Press-Gazette's Ryan Wood, a calf injury is expected to hold Aaron Jones out of the Packers Week 7 tilt against the Texans. Keep an eye here for any late Sunday morning news, but Jamaal Williams becomes a higher-end RB2 if Jones sits. A.J. “Quadzilla” Dillon is worth picking up for the chance his quads enable him to take the RB2 role from Jamaal Williams for the rest of the season.
The Rams are all good to go
Robert Woods didn’t practice Friday but got a limited session in Saturday and was removed from the injury report. Darrell Henderson was also removed from the injury report, and Tyler Higbee is questionable. All are expected to play Monday night against the Bears.
In-N-Out news
IN:
Denzel Mims (Jets WR set to make his NFL debut)
Raiders Offensive Line (except Trent Brown, who still has Covid-19 and will miss Week 7. This is great news for Derek Carr and Josh Jacobs)
K.J. Hamler (out since Week 3, his return is good news from Drew Lock)
OUT/LIKELY OUT:
Chris Thompson (Jaguars activated RB Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) from injured reserve)
Jamison Crowder (keep an eye for any surprise news, but it’s looking less and less likely Crowder plays against the Bills. Fire up your Bills D/ST)
Bryan Edwards (ruled out early, Edwards hasn’t played since Week 3)
Could Michael Thomas be on the trade block?
A few interesting reads
The most valuable stat for WR effectiveness (called the “Julio Jones” stat) is often considered to be YPRR (Yards Per Route Run). Here’s a list of the top WRs according to YPRR. First in the NFL: Chase Claypool, with 3.5. To put that in perspective, Julio’s career average is around 2.7.
How great have rookie WRs Chase Claypool and Justin Jefferson been in historic context? They are the first and third highest-rated PFF rookie WRs through Week 6, ever. Calvin Johnson is the fourth highest.
Chris Godwin, Kenny Golladay, and Allen Robinson head up a way-too-early look at the 2021 class of free agent WRs.
Deeper Dive - Injury News
Brought to you by generous reddit user /ATforLife:
Aaron Jones: Jones has been listed with a "mild" calf strain. This leads me to believe it’s grade 1 or less, which usually heals quickly.
Joe Mixon: There is still a decent amount of mystery surrounding the nature of his foot injury. The Athletic reports it to be a lisfranc injury, which typically costs players three weeks minimum.
Jameson Crowder & Dalvin Cook: Both have some groin strain issues, which usually refers to the adductor group of muscles in the inner thigh. They need these to make cuts when running, so it's essential they see their rest.
