Fellow Fantasy Football Fans,
I am Maciek (The Commish) and I now have the pleasure of joining you on Thursday mornings.
You might be wondering: Do I consider myself an expert or a scout? No. But I do spend way more time than I should (around 3-4 hours/day) reading articles from beat writers and fantasy analysts. Sorry mom.
I’ve been in this game for long enough to know I can provide you quality takes to win your league, while finding quality memes too.
In yesterday’s Huddle, Jacob referred to me as The Commish because, unfortunately, I have been the commissioner of our home league - he has been a pain in my ass for the last 11 years.
Having grown up in the Windy City, the great city of Chicago, we’ll start my first Morning Huddle there.
Dalton’s Time?
Andy Dalton had an interesting press conference today - he was a bit cocky and confident about being the starter. Every single Bear (and Bears fan) on the planet wants to see Fields start week one.
Of course, Andy knows that - but his competitive nature is shining through. The Red Rifle still believes in himself, even if Tony Romo never did.
It appears Andy will start Week 1, no matter how loud the cries from the Bears faithful get. Why? You may ask. Because Matt Nagy is an ass. That’s why.
But what does this mean for you? BUY LOW. Until Fields is named the starter, his ADP of QB18 is an absolute steal in drafts. Here’s why:
Fields has wheels - and the days of pocket passers are numbered. The official Pro Day 40-time for Justin Fields? 4.46 (98th percentile). The only first-round QB to run a faster 40 time than Justin Fields since 2006: Robert Griffin III. And before that, Michael Vick.
Best comp: Deshaun Watson. Without the massages.
And he can throw:
Did we mention the speed?
This year, the best strategy in fantasy drafts is to wait on a QB, grab a cheap, traditional pocket passer (Tom Brady, Matt Stafford) to steady the ship early, and pair them with Fields or Trey Lance. Both will be starters (sooner rather than later) and will win you leagues in the fantasy playoffs.
You’re welcome.
We going Tua on this one?
I know Tua sucked last year, but he is now fully healthy, with absolute weapons at his disposal. Target him in SuperFlex and two QB formats.
Second-Year Studs - WRs
In the tweet below, Jason Moore (Fantasy Footballers) explains the incredible hit rate of second-year WRs drafted between the 4th and 8th rounds. This year, that includes
Tee Higgins
Brandon Aiyuk
Jerry Jeudy
Chase Claypool
All four are great middle-round targets at WR, but Jerry Jeudy sticks out to me - especially in keeper or dynasty formats.
1) I think he is the best WR talent of the group
2) Chances are there's a new QB in Denver next year, with the Broncos being heavily linked to Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson - obviously sky rocketing Jeudys fantasy outlook
And let’s not forget about Justin Jefferson and Ceedee Lamb, who have high prices (ADP currently WR8 & WR12 but for obvious reasons are worth it.
I am all in on Ceedee Lamb this year - with the belief that he outperforms Justin Jefferson (who currently is going 10 picks ahead of Ceedee).

The moment we’ve all been waiting for
Deeeeeep Dive
If you’re in a dynasty league and have a roster spot, just grab Jacob Harris. You probably don’t even know who he is, but grab him. Look at what my boy Scott has to say:
Jacob Harris is the TE for the Rams - who have a TE slot to fill after the departure of Gerald Everett.
Quick Slants
The Athletic's Katherine Terrell writes second-year UDFA Juwan Johnson "seems headed for a Jared Cook-type role" at tight end for the Saints. Keep an eye on Juwan - but go grab him in deep leagues. Juwan paced the Saints in receiving yards in the preseason opener when he registered a pair of catches for 71 yards while playing a handful of snaps with the first-team offense.
Tyree Jackson, the Eagles 3rd string TE (who had some training camp buzz) fractured a bone in his back and is out 8 to 10 weeks. You might ask why this is relevant, well I think this greatly increases the chances the Eagles keep Zach Ertz now - thus hurting Dallas Goedert's value; both will see the field. Bumping Goedert out of my top 10 TEs.
Thank you all - it was a pleasure joining you this morning. Go crush it today.

Ok degens - Jake here. What did you think of The Commish?
Gotta say - only found you guys last season (I won the 'ship - I'll maybe give you a couple percent credit cuz I'm a swell fellow) and the read was great. So far, you've already upped the article quality IMO this szn. Keep up the solid work - content and humour are on point and I look forward to it every time the email hits my box.
