đ Laugh at Urban Meyer & Matt Nagy
Dynasty rookie updates, Derrick Henry, James Robinson, and Steelers WR update. Again.
Itâs a great Saturday morning. That is, unless you are Trevor Lawrence, whoâs lost as many games in the past 4 weeks as he has in his high school and college career combined. Thatâs what I call, the Jacksonville Jaguar effect.
Tough News in Tennessee
Both AJ Brown and Julio Jones are officially OUT for Sundayâs game against the Jets. Ryan Tannehill needs to throw the ball to someone: Chester Rodgers and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine look to benefit most from the injuries - but you shouldnât start either. Unless your team stinks.
Also: This could be a Derrick Henry weekend.
Dear âOhh but the Jets will stack the box and Henry will have nowhere to runâ gang, please read this:
Another Steelers WR Update
Chase Claypool went from limited to DNP on Friday. Very unlikely he plays.
Juju Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson should play and see extra targets in Claypoolâs absence.
In related news, OC Matt Canada said the Steelers sticking with their current offensive approach. He believes âthey are on the right track,â but the stats paint a different picture:
Thursday Night Lights - Fantasy Takeaways
Despite a TD, Joe Mixon had a somewhat disappointing game (16 for 67 yards with one catch for 0 yards). To make matters worse, he missed the last few minutes of the game with an ankle injury. Luckily, Mixon has 10 days to get healthy - no reason to be overly concerned.
With Carlos Hyde a surprise scratch, James Robinson was the workhorse back, rushing 18 times for 78 and 2 TDs. Heâs explosive, and with the Jags looking somewhat competent Robinson could be a top 10-15 RB going forward.
Guess who sold too early?
DJ Chark broke his ankle and will is out definitely. He is safe to drop.
Laviska Shenault is the biggest beneficiary of the injury - he caught 6 for 99 and had an 11 yard rush. He looks like he can be an every-week WR3.
JaâMarr Chase caught 6 for 77 yards, and Tyler Boyd went 9 for 118. Neither found the endzone, because that was reserved for TE C.J. Uzomah. Fantasy owners always love to hear that... This game further proved how reliable Boyd is, especially when Higgins or Chase is out.
Tweet of the Day
Jake Ciely is a class act, one of the best in the business, and a prolific meme creator. His fantasy rankings win people championships, but we love him for his memes. The runner-up Tweet of the Day:
Things are looking up in Cincy
The rare video where Zac Taylor doesnât seem like a complete moron. The locker room has his back. Also, Joe Burrow is the real deal - Bengals got a good one.
You guys love injury updates right? Right??
Sean McVay confirmed Darrell Henderson will play Sunday but did not specify if he will be limited in anyway. Proceed with caution.
Dalvin Cook is questionable. After practicing all week it is likely Cook will be playing against the Browns. Alexander Mattison szn overâŚfor now. Cook is a great contrarian DFS start.
Antonio Gibson is questionable but HC Riverboat Ron Rivera is âpretty confidentâ Gibson will play.
George Kittle remains questionable with a calf injury. True game-time decision.
Elijah Mitchell is also questionable for Sunday with the shoulder injury that kept him out last week. Shanahan said it would be âimpressiveâ if he could go in there and play.
Rob Gronkowski is doubtful for SNF against the Patriots. Sad. I was hoping for an ultimate Brady-Gronk revenge game.
Bill Belichick Quote of the Day
Does this mean the Patriots should win easily - if Bill knows the exact offense Brady is running?
Dynasty Rookie Watch:
Eric Drzewiecki put together this fantastic rookie chart - which he updates weekly on Reddit (remember, 1QB, normal TE scoring, standard starters)
TE: Tommy Tremble - Tremble had a good game AND the Panthers crushed our dreams of Darnold to D. Arnold, by trading Dan Arnold to the Jaguars. Trembleâs opportunity share has a big chance to spike in the upcoming weeks.
RB: Chuba Hubbard - It's still too soon to know how long CMC's injury will actually hold him out. While he's avoided the IR stint, CMC could still miss 3-4 weeks, or he could be back after only missing 1 week. Who knows. But one thing IS certain - this is a massive opportunity for Hubbard to showcase how he fits into the system. A strong performance could lock him in as **at least** a very high-end handcuff to CMC.
RB: Najee Harris - Najee saw so much volume that you need to love on him rest-of-season. Najee is an improved OL away from being more efficient. I don't know how much more efficient, but the Steelers OL can't get any worse. Even so - if you're win now, you gotta ride him this year. If you're not, this 30 point week 3 might represent peak value in 2021.Â
Thanks for joining me this morning - See ya next time!
